Adaptant le roman «On Swift Horses» de Shannon Pufahl, Daniel Minahan raconte une histoire d’amour queer en Californie peu après la guerre de Corée, dont revient Lee (Will Poulter), qui est marié à Muriel (Daisy Edgar-Jones). Celle-ci forme avec lui et son beau-frère Julius (Jacob Elordi) un triangle amoureux complexe. Après le départ de Julius, Muriel explore une nouvelle indépendance à travers les courses de chevaux et un amour qu’elle n’aurait jamais osé imaginer! Un récit à la fois captivant, épique et intime qui ose réinventer un rêve américain digne de ce nom.
